1 tablespoon Cadia® extra virgin olive oil

1 teaspoon Cadia® organic unsalted butter

1/2 cup chopped onion

1/4 cup chopped celery

1/4 cup chopped green pepper

1 1/2 cups cooked (1/2 c. dry) Cadia® organic black beans, drained and rinsed

1 can (28 oz.) Cadia® organic diced tomatoes, undrained

1/2 teaspoon dried leaf oregano

1/2 teaspoon dried basil

1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

1/4 teaspoon pepper

1/8 teaspoon salt

1/8 teaspoon hot sauce (optional)

1/4 teaspoon ground turmeric


Heat a large pot over medium-high heat and add oil and butter. Stir in onions, celery and green pepper. Stir and cook until soft; about 4 minutes. Stir in black beans, tomatoes, salt and pepper, spices and hot sauce. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, cover and simmer for 5 minutes. Serve hot with brown rice.
